The AGC of Virginia also
offers three $2,000 scholarships each year for students seeking careers in
construction.
Applications are available in January, and recipients are
determined in the late Spring.

AGC's Education Foundation is pleased to announce that
applications and forms are now available for its Scholarship and Awards
Competition. Newly revised and easier to complete, all application forms are
available and downloadable from the AGC Education and Research Foundation's
website at www.agcfoundation.org.
Please help us get the word out about these opportunities for
students and universities by passing along the enclosed information to local AGC
student chapters and their staff and by advertising the program in your chapter
or branch's member newsletter. Additional copies of the enclosed material is

Below are additional details about each awards program:
Over $200,000 in new scholarship awards will be available for
construction and civil engineering students. Please note that scholarship
awards for undergraduate students are renewable for up to four consecutive years
and will be $2,500 per year once again.
Eligibility and Rules: See scholarship application for details.
Amount of Scholarship: $2,500 undergraduate; $7,500
graduate
Topic: "The Effective Use of Building Information
Modeling (BIM) as it applies to Construction Firms"
Eligibility and Rules: Seniors in construction and civil
engineering programs are invited to submit essays. Essays may be no more that
ten (10) typewritten pages and must be printed in at least 11-point font. All
essays require the faculty sponsor to verify that each essay submitted has been
proofed to ensure its publish ability.
Amount of Award: The first-place winner will
receive $1,000 and a trip to the AGC Convention. The first-place
faculty sponsor will receive $500 and the Convention trip. Second-place
winner will receive $500; and the third-place winner will receive
$300.
The Outstanding Educator Award is designed to recognize the
accomplishments of full-time teaching faculty in construction education.
Eligibility and Rules: Nominees are judged in three
areas: full-time undergraduate teaching responsibilities; activities with
students; and, activities with AGC chapters, AGC of America, and/or other
construction industry organizations. All applicants should send one original
package plus two copies.
Amount of Award: The recipient will receive $5,000 and an expense-paid
trip to the AGC Convention.
