Stepping Into Service: A Message from Your 2026 AGCVA Chair
Being inducted as the 2026 Chair of the Associated General Contractors of Virginia is an honor I do not take lightly. AGCVA has shaped the construction landscape of our Commonwealth for more than a century, and to be entrusted with its leadership is both humbling and energizing.
Like many of you, my journey with AGCVA began through getting involved. I joined the Membership Committee in 2003 after coming to W.M. Jordan, working alongside respected leaders who encouraged me to engage and contribute. That experience led to years of service in the Richmond District, opportunities to serve on the state Board, and the privilege of working with outstanding Chairs who helped shape my perspective and leadership.
I am especially proud to represent a company with a long history in AGCVA. W.M. Jordan joined the association more than 50 years ago, and I am honored to follow in the footsteps of past leaders from our firm who have served in this role. Their example, and the example of so many across this association, reinforces the importance of showing up, getting involved, and giving back.
Along the way, I have been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors and colleagues who have invested in my growth. I am equally grateful for the support of my family, who have been part of this journey and have experienced firsthand the relationships and opportunities that AGCVA provides.
I would also like to recognize our outgoing Chair, Chris Shifflett, for his steady leadership and commitment over the past year. And to our AGCVA staff and volunteers—thank you. You are the ones who keep this organization moving forward every day, and your work does not go unnoticed.
One of the things I value most about AGCVA is the strength and diversity of our membership. We are made up of firms of all sizes, specialties, and regions - from every corner of the Commonwealth. Each brings a unique perspective, but we are united by a shared commitment to building and improving Virginia.
As Chair, my goal is simple: to ensure every member feels welcome, heard, and connected. No matter where you are from or what role you play in this industry, you have a place in AGCVA.
Construction is, at its core, an optimistic business. Every project begins with the belief that tomorrow can be better than today. That same optimism drives this association. We believe in this industry, we believe in the people who make it possible, and we believe that together we can continue to build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Virginia.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. I am honored to serve, and I look forward to the work ahead.
Let’s get to work—and let’s build something Virginia can be proud of.
