Starting an apprenticeship program can feel complicated—but it doesn’t have to.

Join AGCVA for Apprenticeship Made Practical: A Contractor’s Guide to Getting Started, a contractor-focused WebEd designed for company owners and leaders, HR and workforce professionals, training managers, and anyone exploring apprenticeship for their organization.

Led by Sherie Fulcher of Southern Air, who brings both contractor experience and a background working within Virginia’s apprenticeship system, the session will break Registered Apprenticeship into practical, understandable pieces, including on-the-job training (OJT), related technical instruction (RTI), program registration, and the roles employers and outside training partners can play.

Attendees will also explore different ways contractors can structure and support an apprenticeship program, including examples of curriculum providers, community college partnerships, outside training resources, and other approaches.

The goal is not to prescribe one model, but to help contractors understand their options and determine what may work best for their company.

Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of:

  • The basic components of a Registered Apprenticeship program
  • What the employer is responsible for
  • What can be provided through outside partners
  • Options for related technical instruction and curriculum
  • Available community, education, and workforce resources
  • Practical next steps for exploring or launching a program

Whether your company is simply exploring apprenticeship or actively working toward starting a program, this session will provide a practical roadmap and connections to resources that can help.
